Federation Housing and the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia recently celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony for Annabel Gardens in Willow Grove. The expected completion date is in the fall of 2022.

UPDATE: you can apply for housing at Annabel Gardens online at federationhousing.org. More information is available on their website.

The new apartment building will house low-and-moderate income seniors, ages 62 and older. There will be 54 one-bedroom homes providing affordable housing and services for its community. Supportive housing enables seniors to age in place with dignity. The complex will include parking as well as a private shuttle to local grocery stores, doctor’s offices, and malls. Amenities will include a community room, computer room, lounges, offices, and outdoor space. The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is organizing a heavily subsidized lunch program.

Federation Housing is reserving 33 units for households whose incomes do not exceed 50% of the area median (AMI). Six units will be for people whose incomes do not exceed 20%. The remaining 21 will be for residents who are at or below 60% AMI.

The name for Annabel Gardens is in honor of Annabel Flesher Lindy, the first female board member of Federation Housing. She grew up in a housing project near the Willow Grove apartments that will bear her name. Her children now run the Lindy Family Foundation; they have donated $1.5 million, making the project possible. The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, Montgomery County, and The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation also contributed.

Kim Dolan, RHLS’s Senior Staff Attorney, worked with Federation Housing on this project. Other organziations include the J.G. Petrucci Company and Cerminara Architects.
